Sir — This refers to the article, “The making of the Padmavati controversy” (November 21) by A Surya Prakash. Historian Koenraad Elst and writers François Gautier and David Frawley have all documented the atrocities inflicted by Muslim kings on the Hindus in India. Even Akbar, the Mughal king, who has been touted as secular, massacred Hindu women and children when he conquered Chittor. Having read a lot of history, I can say that there barely a Muslim king or sultan who didn’t inflict the worst atrocities on the Hindus. As regards the story of Padmawati, Hindus, except the pseudo-secularists, accept it as true, even it is a myth. Then why should Sanjay Leela Bhansali injure Hindu sentiments?
