Maggie Gyllenhaal opines that commercial sex work should be legalised so that people involved in the industry could lead a safer and healthier life. The 40-year-old actor plays a sex worker in a new TV show, The Deuce. "Who needs a union more than a commercial sex worker? I'm quoting David Simon (show creator) actually and I agree with him. My instinct is to say decriminalise it and make sure everybody's safe, healthy and taken care of," Gyllenhaal adds.

The actor also serves as a producer on the show, as she wanted to be a part of the storytelling process. "There was a little part of me that was concerned they weren't interested in telling the same story as I was interested in telling. That's why I came on board as producer as well."
