The Vols walk into Neyland Stadium before the Vandy game in Knoxville, Tenn. Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017.
While Tennessee played Vanderbilt in its season finale Saturday afternoon, recently dismissed wide receiver Jauan Jennings posted his gratitude to Tennessee football.
The junior was dismissed from the program Wednesday night after an expletive-laced tirade directed at the Tennessee coaching staff, in which he called the coaches snakes, fake and accused them of lying.
"Thank you (Vol football) for everything," Jennings wrote. "I love all my seniors from the bottom of my heart. Killing me minute by minute second by second.... Definitely will miss my VOL NATION the most !!!!"
Shortly after Jennings posted his rant on Instagram, Tennessee interim coach Brady Hoke announced the wide receiver was dismissed.
“In consultation with vice chancellor/director of athletics John Currie, I have made the decision to dismiss Jauan from our program," Hoke said in a statement. "Representing the University of Tennessee football program is a privilege."
Jennings did not play this season after dislocating his wrist in the season opener against Georgia Tech, an injury that required surgery. He caught three passes for 17 yards in that game.
Jennings said he went to practice on Wednesday with hopes of playing against Vanderbilt on Saturday, going into a rant about how much he hates the Commodores.
The bulk of his rant was directed towards the coaches.
"The coaching staff is holding us back," Jennings said. "Please, Tennessee send us a great-(expletive) coaching staff."
In his Tennessee career, Jennings has 746 yards and seven touchdowns on 57 catches in 26 games. He had a pair of memorable catches in 2016, hauling in a Hail Mary on the final play at Georgia and catching a long touchdown against Florida as the Vols snapped a losing streak against the Gators.
