Cong V-P mocks Modi saying hugs to US Prez Trump didn't help Indo-Pak situation; a day before Mumbai terror attack's 9th anniversary, Pak invokes UNSC sanctions to justify freeing JuD chief
Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi took a dig at PM Modi on Saturday and termed the latter's relationship with US President Donald Trump as failed "hugplomacy". "Narendrabhai, baat nahi bani (this is not done). Terror mastermind is free. President Trump just delinked Pak military funding from LeT. Hugplomacy fail. More hugs urgently needed (sic)," he tweeted on Saturday morning.

On Friday, Jamaat-ud-Dawah (JuD) chief and LeT founder, Hafiz Saeed was freed by Pakistan. Saeed, in his late 60s, was under house arrest for 297 days. A day before India marks the ninth anniversary of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, Pakistan justified the release of the attack's mastermind claiming that Islamabad was committed to the implementation of UNSC sanctions regime on terrorists.
Responding to comments made by India's Ministry of External Affairs that Saeed's release confirmed once again the lack of seriousness by the Pakistan government in bringing to justice perpetrators of terrorism, Pakistan Foreign Office (FO) spokesperson Mohammad Faisal on Saturday said, "The Indian MEA spokesperson took exception to self-serving insinuations. Legal processes were anchored in rule of law, not dictates of politics and posturing. Pakistan condemns and opposes all forms of terrorism. It is in the interest of all states to speak and act in a manner that is consistent with the imperatives of adhering to rule of law at the national and international levels."
