More vacancies to compete for

The government has decided not to contest the High Court order on Teachers Recruitment Test (TRT) and conduct the same based on 10 districts.

Officials pointed out that Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari had made a statement in the Assembly that if the Court objects to TRT based on 31 districts the government would conduct the test as per the court orders.

Accordingly, the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) will be asked the extend the date for submission of application forms by at least two weeks for the benefit of the aspirants.

Date extended

The government had issued orders on October 10 for filling up 8,792 vacancies and the exam was to be conducted sometime in February. With the court orders the test date will also be advanced to either March or April taking into the issue of availability of test centres and also to avoid clash with other annual examinations.

The government claimed that 31 districts formula was adopted to recruit more candidates in the schools falling in the backward districts and also Agency areas. Though number of posts will not change the court orders will open more opportunities for the aspirants as 31 districts formula restricted their chances due to fewer vacancies in some districts. The HC order will benefit candidates in some districts where vacancies were few. For example, not a single SGT post was available in Warangal Urban and Khammam districts while Rajanna Sircilla, Warangal Rural and Jangaon have just one vacancy each. Candidates in districts like Suryapet (8), Yadadri Bhongir (6), Peddapalli (5), Siddipet (10), Mahabubabad (17), Karimnagar (29), Jagityal (31), Nalgonda (26), Nizamabad (98) and Wanaparthy (83) will have better chances.
