Tottenham news: I might drop Danny Rose again - Mauricio Pochettino

DANNY ROSE could be ordered to train again this weekend instead of playing – and Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insists he doesn’t care.

Tottenham star Danny Rose wasn't pleased to be left out of the north London derby

The England defender said he was ‘fuming’ after being left out of the squad for last week’s 2-0 loss at Arsenal.

Pochettino made Rose train instead because he is still not fully fit after nine months out with a knee injury.

Rose played 90 minutes in the Champions League at Borussia Dortmund in midweek and as a result could be excluded again tomorrow when West Brom come to Wembley.

But Pochettino made it clear that whatever happens, Rose will just have to accept it.

“Will I make him train again?” he said. “Yes, maybe. We need to assess him.

“With Danny, after his injury it is important that every time he is going to play he feels fresh to give his best.

For me, I am happy that he was angry because it means he wanted to play. But in the same way I don’t care, because it is my decision

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino

“For me, I am happy that he was angry because it means he wanted to play. But in the same way I don’t care, because it is my decision – I’m the boss. That is the problem for the players.

“He never showed that feeling to me. That’s why it surprised me, because the day before we had a conversation and he never showed me that he was angry.”

Manchester United are keen to lure Rose to Old Trafford in a £40million deal. Tottenham won’t let that happen in January but Pochettino gave no assurances that Rose would be around next term.

He said: “You cannot guess what’s going to happen in the future, and with myself it’s the same.

“There are many things that happen in football. The most important thing now is everyone needs to be involved and feel part of the project.

“It’s about arriving at the moment and taking the best decision for the club.”
