Congress, TRS spar over Revanth Reddy’s resignation 

HYDERABAD: With the TRS throwing down the gauntlet to Kodangal MLA A Revanth Reddy on Thursday, challenging him to submit his letter of resignation from the state Assembly directly to the speaker “if he has any guts”, the Congress asked the ruling party to first ensure that the speaker acts against the legislators who joined it after defecting from the Congress and TDP. 

Thus, if TRS, which is taking all possible steps to defeat Revanth on his home turf, by engineering defections from his camp, has announced that it is ready for “Kodangal bypoll,” the Congress has given a clear indication that Revanth will not facilitate bypoll until the Speaker initiates action against the “turncoats” in the TRS. The two parties engaged themselves in a fresh war of words following Kodangal MLA’s silence on his resignation from the Assembly membership.

With Revanth, who has quit the TDP and joined the Congress recently, not showing signs of submitting his resignation letter directly to the Assembly speaker to facilitate bypoll for his seat, the TRS on Thursday stepped up its attack and challenged the young leader to face a bypoll.Government whip Palla Rejeshwar Reddy said, “Revanth is enacting a drama on quitting the Assembly. One day he says he doesn’t want security personnel saying that he resigned from the Assembly membership and another day he says he won’t take his salary as legislator.

He is doing all this to create a picture as if he has resigned. In fact, Revanth submitted his resignation letter to the AP chief minister and TDP president and not to the TS Assembly speaker. If Revanth is serious about relinquishing his membership of the legislature which he owed to TDP, he should immediately submit his resignation directly to the speaker.”

“The TRS will inflict a humiliating defeat on Revanth if bypoll is held for the Kodangal seat,” he said and warned that Revanth Reddy and his “one-time boss” Chandrababu Naidu would have to be behind bars soon for their alleged role in the cash-for-vote case. On the other hand, while coming to the rescue of Revanth Reddy, TPCC spokesman Addanki Dayakar asked the government whip to prevail upon the Assembly Speaker to act against the “turncoats” in the TRS.

“The speaker is unable to take action against MLAs who joined TRS after defecting from the Congress and TDP. He is not able to accept the resignations submitted by those who were elected on other parties’ ticket and are with TRS now. Animal husbandry minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav’s case is a clear example of this,” he said.

Govt flayed for denial of permission to TJAC meet
The Congress strong exception to the way the government had denied permission for Telangana Joint Action Committee’s Koluvula Kai Kotlata, a public meeting for unemployed youth, proposed to be held in Hyderabad on November 30, citing security issues as Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) 2017 will be held in the city.   “The government is keen on giving permissions to controversial sunburn festivals, aimed at promoting drug culture among teenagers and youth.

How is the government giving permission to such parties while  citing various reasons to deny permission to Koluvula Kai Kotlala being organised by M Kodandaram,” Congress leader V Hanumantha Rao asked. Earlier, Youth Congress leaders led by  Anil Kumar Yadav staged a dharna in front of the excise department’s headquarters here and demanded that the permission given to sunburn festival be cancelled.
