One person was killed and two others were seriously injured as the car bearing the registration number UP 78EB 8506 they were in fell into a gorge in Vikasnagar on the outskirts of Dehradun on Friday. It is learnt that they were returning to Vikasnagar after attending a wedding function in a village in Tehri Garhwal district. The deceased was identified as Sunder Singh Chouhan, a police constable posted in Uttarkashi district who was presently living in Vikasnagar while on a one- month leave. He died on the spot, police said, adding that the other three injured were admitted at a local hospital. Later, two of them were referred to a higher facility in Dehradun, given their worsening condition. Their condition was stated to be serious. The seriously injured duo now undergoing treatment in a Dehradun-based hospital are Chaman Singh Pundir, 50 and Bachan Singh Pundir, 35, both from Tehri Garhwal district. Their relatives have been informed while the body has been sent for autopsy.
In another accident, a youth was killed and two others were injured as the two-wheeler they were on rammed into a lamppost near the Law College in Premnagar on the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Upon being informed, the police team from Premnagar police station rushed to spot and admitted the trio at the combined hospital in Premnagar where Sarthak Sharma, 24, from Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh, presently residing in Dehradun, was declared brought dead. The injured were identified as Sitangshu Srivastava from Jabalpur Madhya Pradesh, presently residing in Dehradun and Ritesh Roy from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, presently residing in Dehradun.
The latter is now being treated at Synergy Hospital in Dehradun. As the near ones of the deceased appealed to the administration not to go for post-mortem of the body the nod was given and the body was handed over to his relatives.
