Set on the edge of the picturesque Houhai Lake and housed in a series of historic 1950s buildings, Vue Hotel Houhai Beijing has been boldly realized by the internationally acclaimed Singapore-based studio Ministry of Design.
The architectural styling of the 80-room hotel sits primarily in the Chinese vernacular, yet also presents an arresting range of ornamentation, from distinctive gargoyles and sculptured balconies to latticed window frames and pared-back jack roofs.
Upon entering the hotel, guests discover a bakery café fronting the bustle of the hutongs; a signature Spanish-influenced tapas restaurant; and a rooftop bar overlooking the lake, artfully connected by a network of landscaped gardens.
Ideally set in the Yang Fang Hutong, in central Beijing’s Xicheng District, the hotel enjoys an enviable on-the-pulse location for business and leisure guests alike.
