BBC presenter on £400k a year reveals credit card hack on LIVE television

BBC presenter Stephen Nolan revealed he was the victim of a credit card hack while hosting his live talk show.

The £400,000-a-year BBC presenter apologised for being “distracted” by a series of messages detailing the criminal activity live on his show.

One of his guests joked “you can afford it” as Nolan went off-script to explain the extent of the credit card hack.

Nolan said: “If you think I have been slightly distracted over the last few minutes… none of this is in the script.

We need to hurry up and get this show finished or I will be skint by the end of it

Stephen Nolan

“I always keep my mobile phone on during the show and there have been three messages popping up from one of my credit cards.

“Apparently I am currently spending money in three hotels in three different parts of the world.

“I think my cards have been hacked.”

Nolan later explained the transactions had been made at hotels in Japan, Russia and France.

It was confirmed Nolan receives a salary of between £400,000 and £449,999 a year when the BBC’s highest earners were revealed in July.

Bumper Graham, head of NIPSA, who was on the show to discuss the Budget, joked: “You can afford it Stephen.”

Nolan replied: “We need to hurry up and get this show finished or I will be skint by the end of it.”

Nolan is a prominent presenter across the BBC, hosting The Nolan Show on BBC Radio Ulster, a BBC Radio 5 Live show and Question Time: Extra Time.

In 2014, Nolan revealed how he almost had £20,000 stolen from him in a separate credit card scam.
