Tully, Tagore to grace maiden literary fest

TATA Steel in association with a Hindi daily is all set to host first ever literary meet on December 1 and 2 this year. From prominent media personalities like former BBC Chief (India), Mark Tully, renowned Journalist Rajdeep Sardesai to popular faces of Hindi film fraternity, Sharmila Tagore, Kirti Kulhari (one of the lead actress of PINK)  including other eminent public figures which include cricket expert, Bishen Singh Bedi will grace the literary meet being organized on the concept of popular Jaipur Literary Fest.

Starting it with an aim to create a blend while bridging the gap between new generation writers and the conventional authors, the platform will also take upon some key issues like the present generation mindset and survival of literary work.

Vice President, Corporate Services, TATA Steel, Sunil Bhaskaran while addressing the media here on Wednesday, said, “This is first of its kind attempt being taken by the company here in Jharkhand after venturing into several sports and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) affairs. After getting massive response from Bhubaneswar and Kolkata, the company for the first time has selected Ranchi. Since these kinds of events have a larger impact on community as a whole, depending on the response, the literary fest will be organized here further.”

The inauguration session on December 1 scheduled at 4 pm at BNR Chanakya will be attended by Ashok Vajpeyi and Mark Tully which will be followed up by regional history, identity and literature session. The daylong session on December 2 will witness some other prominent speakers including few eminent regional authors like Mahua Maji, Shashi Nilima Dungdung among the few.

The concluding session will start at 10:45 am and will be attended by Kirti Kulhari, Gautam Chintamani and Aniruddh Roy Chowdhury followed up by ‘Bhavisya Ki Hindi’ session. The technical session will cover issues like India’s democratic eleven, economic theory and the literature that spreads new ideas, the voices from the soil (regional writers session), I love Hindi – Nayi wali Hindi on writing to a Whatsapp generation. Also, on December 2, former minister, Jairam Ramesh will speak to the audience about his latest book, Indira Gandhi – the Legacies. The literary meet is divided in 13 sessions in which 8 sessions will be held in Hindi while 5 sessions will be conducted in English.
