Glasgow Airport closed after 'tug collides with plane on icy runway'
GLASGOW Airport has been closed and emergency services are at the scene after a plane collided with a tug on the runway, reports claim.

Departures from the Scottish airport temporarily cancelled and all inbound flights are either in a holding pattern or have been diverted.
The airport reportedly revealed that an aircraft collided with a tug on the runway sparking the closure of all air activities at the airport.
The collision is thought to have been due to icy conditions on the runway.

The plane was stationary at the time and was not carrying any passengers.
Three fire engines and one helicopter was sent to the scene by the Scottish Fire Service.
All landings and takeoffs were delayed for 20 minutes following the incident.
Six flights were diverted as a result, with some heading back to the airport after it reopened at 9.55pm.
Tugs are vehicles used to tow planes between gates and around airports.
Glasgow Airport wrote on the social networking site: “There are currently some delays as we de-ice stands and taxiways due to freezing conditions.”

“Emergency crews responded, as is routine, but no one was injured.”
One holidaymaker had to contend with their flight being diverted from Glasgow to Prestwick leading to a significant delay.
They tweeted: “There are currently some delays as we de-ice stands and taxiways due to freezing conditions.”
