An alleged liquor smuggler was arrested with 72 cartons of illicit country-made liquor in south-west Delhi’s Dwarka, the police said on Thursday.
Akash (23) was apprehended on the basis of specific input. According to the tip-off, he was scheduled to arrive in Delhi in a white pick-up van from Bahadurgarh, Haryana.

“A team put up barricades and started checking vehicles near Madhu Vihar drain in Sector 2, Dwarka. Around 6 a.m., the staff stopped a pick-up van. A check revealed 72 cartons of illicit liquor,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West) Shibesh Singh.
The police claimed that each carton contained 50 quarters of country-made liquor. A total of 3,600 quarter bottles were recovered, Mr. Singh added.
