Brendon Hartley will end the 2017 season with a power unit penalty in every race he has started as a result of another grid drop at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Making his debut for Toro Rosso in Austin last month, Hartley was faced with 25-place grid penalty as a result of power unit component changes, and similarly had to drop 20 positions a week later in Mexico, where Hartley was also hit by failures in a number of sessions.

At the last race in Brazil, Hartley had to take a 10-place grid penalty for using an eighth MGU-H but was also forced to retire for the second race in succession, and it has now been confirmed that the New Zealander will use his ninth MGU-H in Abu Dhabi, resulting in another drop of 10 places on Sunday's grid.

The latest penalty means Hartley will have been forced to start from the back of the grid in all four of his Formula 1 starts so far, with a highest grid slot of 17th in Mexico coming as a result of other power unit penalties.

Next season, power unit manufacturers will have to improve reliability even further as the current limit of four power units for the full season will be reduced to three, with the MGU-K, energy store and control electronics being limited to two of each component for the full season.
