Not in the House

more-in

Constructive parliamentary debates, which are pivotal to any democracy, have long been missing from the Indian political landscape owing to the dwindling quality and quantity of sessions (“Time to change the House rules”, Nov. 23). Frequent disruptions mark Question Hour. Bills often get passed without much discussion or take the ordinance route to evade scrutiny. There must be a minimum number of days when the Indian Parliament must meet.
