Culture Myth 4: We Will Think About Culture Once We Have Scaled Up
Focus on building the right workplace experiences for its employees is as important as building the right experiences for the customers

A startup founder's primary focus area is validating the idea, scanning the market & the competition, keeping an eye on the limited resources and finances, looking for investments, and focusing on sales & marketing initiatives of the firm. All the other things can be dealt later on when the firm has scaled up. Can thinking about company's culture be put on hold till the company has scaled up?
Focus on building the right workplace experiences for its employees is as important as building the right experiences for the customers. It's the employees' experiences that will form customers' experiences and in turn enable the company to swim through the currents and the undercurrents of the market forces.
At the start of any company, Founders have a blank slate which they write on with chalk. As the company grows the chalk turns into a marker and then into a permanent marker. As the saying goes "old habits die hard", the time and effort that would be needed to make the necessary changes might be too hard for any organization to go through at a later stage. In most cases, it might be a little too late. Culture needs the right focus from early stages right from identifying and hiring the right talent to drive desired results. In order to build a stable and scalable organization, founders need to invest in the resources, tools, and people to help them build the right culture from the start.
