Godhra BJP rebel files nomination

VADODARA: BJP faced rebellion in Godhra when a party member, who had sought ticket to contest the assembly polls filed nominations without party mandate. The BJP has chosen C K Raulji for the seat.


Dr Jaswant Parmar, a surgeon, had sought the ticket from the party along with others. Sources said that while Parmar's family has a RSS background, Parmar was relatively new to the party. Parmar had been supporting Ganpati and Navratri events in Godhra to make his presence felt in the town.


Sources said that attempts were made by the party till the early hours on Friday to convince Parmar against contesting the polls. However, Parmar did not relent and brought out a rally on Friday morning to file his nomination papers as an independent.


Parmar told media persons that he was confident of a victory and would work towards the development of the town.
