The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Saturday alleged that the Delhi Government has admitted its failure by putting on hold the odd-even scheme in the Capital.
The BJP President Manoj Tiwari said that the Government has completely failed in taking preventive steps against pollution and it has taken immature steps to deal with the crisis.
“It is sad to see that Delhi is not ready to meet any emergency situation due to administrative failure of the Kejriwal Government,” he said.
He further said the decision to implement odd-even plan was taken in haste, but no necessary alternative arrangements were made. However, it has postponed the decision to implement the move without exemptions to women and two-wheelers as sought by the National Green Tribunal (NGT).
Tiwari said the Kejriwal Government’s earlier announcement to use Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses during odd-even was a “politically motivated step”. “It would have been better if the Government had taken buses from other States or the private sector for plying on the DTC roads in place of indulging in politics, he added.
Meanwhile leader of opposition in the Delhi assembly Vijender Gupta also said that the Delhi Government did not take any meaningful step during last two and a half years for reducing pollution in Delhi nor did it take any action against the polluters, leading to worsening of pollution in Delhi.
