Former Gujarat Chief Minister Shankersinh Vaghela led third frond Jan Vikalp has fielded 69 candidates for the first phase of ensuing State Assembly polls. Vaghela who quit the Congress party earlier this year has also decided to support five independent candidates. The candidates from Vadhela’s camp will represent All India Hindustan Congress Party headquartered at Jaipur. All the candidates will contest on the symbol of Tractor. In the first phase of Gujarat, 89 seats in Saurashtra-Kutch and South Gujarat regions will go to polling.

Known for keeping relations over political interest, Vaghela has decided not to put candidates against Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, State BJP president, Jitu Vaghani, Amreli Congress legislator Paresh Dhanani and senior Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil.

Talking to media persons, Vaghela said that unlike other political outfits his party would not fund its candidates for poll campaigning.

Expenditure would be borne by the candidates themselves, he said adding that this will be a unique experiment, lets see what outcome would come.

Vaghela who supported pro-quota stir leader Hardik Patel when he was Leader of Opposition and with the Congress party continued to do so by saying that reservation can only be brought in through legislation and change in the Constitution. If his party would be voted to power, it would bring change in constitution, he claimed.
