PATNA: The Patna police seized 3,500 litres of Punjab- manufactured India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) from Bihta-Shivala road under the Shahpur police station area on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Police also arrested Ashok Yadav (30) and Shailendra Ram (22), who were in the truck being used for smuggling the liquor. The truck has been seized. Yadav and Ram are natives of Jaunpur in UP.
Shahpur police station SHO Vikash Chandra Yadav said the consignment consisted of 392 cartons of IMFL-filled bottles.
"The consignment was loaded at Jalandhar in Punjab and was to be unloaded in Patna. Truck driver Ashok was constantly in touch with a person over the cellphone, who was directing him how to reach the unloading point," Yadav said and further investigations were on.
