Trump declares N Korea a State sponsor of terror

| | Washington:

US President Donald Trump on Monday announced his decision to designate North Korea as a State sponsor of terrorism — a decision that will restore Pyongyang to the US’s list of rogue nations from which it was removed in 2008. The designation will unleash a new set of stringent sanctions and penalties on the Kim Jong-un regime, beginning with an announcement by the US Treasury Department on Tuesday. The sanctions will be “very large” and it will be the highest level of sanctions by the time it is finished over a two-week period”, Trump said. “The North Korean regime must be lawful and must end its unlawful nuclear ballistic missile development,” he said in brief remarks at the White House.
