Sunshine Coast Announces Planned Upgrades to Psycho-education Programs for Drug Rehab and Alcohol Treatment in Vancouver, BC

The Centre is announcing that Director of Strategic Development, Daniel Jordan, will be pursuing a Master's Degree.

The aim is to leverage Mr. Jordan's expertise to improve the group workshops at SCHC, specifically the psycho-education sessions. Approximately, twenty five percent of scheduled client activities are psycho-education sessions.

BACKGROUND ON PSYCHO-EDUCATION PROGRAMS AT SCHC
Daniel Jordan, Director of Strategic Development, began his studies in Adult Learning Education at the University of British Columbia, having completed undergraduate degrees in both psychology and philosophy at Kwantlen Polytechnic University in August. Daniel plans on returning to work in April 2019 after completing his M.A. degree when he will then have the expertise necessary to redesign the psycho-education program at SCHC. This is no small task, but it is important--a quarter of scheduled client activities are psycho-education sessions. Maximizing the value of psycho-education for clients has long been a goal.
While Daniel is at school, staff at SCHC will be gathering feedback from clients regarding their psycho-education with the goal of making it better. Ultimately, SCHC hopes to have a psycho-educational program that facilitates a deeper client appreciation for the concept of meaning-centred therapy and personal meaning. With this foundation, SCHC believes that clients will be better equipped to make the most of their treatment experience and better equipped to succeed after returning to their home communities.
