Veteran actor Christopher Plummer has said that he never intends to retire and would rather die "onstage".

The 87-year-old actor will next star in British-Indian director Nalluri's "The Man Who Invented Christmas", which tells the origin story of Charles Dickin's classic novella "A Christmas Carol".

"I love my work. I love what I do. And I'm so sorry for a majority of people who do not like their jobs, and can't wait to retire, which of course, is death.

"I'll never retire. I hope to drop dead onstage. That's what I really want to do," Plummer said, according to Pagesix.com.

Directed by Nalluri and written by Susan Coyne, the film is based on book of the same by Les Standiford. It also stars Dan Stevens and Jonathan Pryce.
