7 lakh litres of liquor seized in poll-bound Guj
New Delhi: Despite Gujarat being a dry State, about 7.08 lakh litres of liquor have been seized by the EC-appointed surveillance and expenditure monitoring teams in the poll-bound State. This apart, Rs 1.50 crore in cash, and gold and jewellery worth over Rs eight crore too have been seized.

gram panchayat residency docu is not enough: SC
New Delhi: A certificate of residency issued by the gram panchayat is not a document of citizenship and is ‘meaningless’ unless supported by some other valid record to make a claim for inclusion in the National Register of Citizenship (NRC), the Supreme Court bench of Justices Ranjan Gogoi and RF Nariman said on Wednesday. The Court further said that it will pass orders on whether the Gauhati High Court was right in invalidating the document for making a claim in the NRC or an opportunity needs to be given to the people to establish their claims of citizenship.
R’Pati bhawan will open for 4 days
New Delhi: The Rashtrapati Bhavan will now be open for public viewing between 9 am and 4 pm for four days a week — Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday — from November 23, according to an official statement on Wednesday. Registration charge for the visit is Rs 50 per head but children below the age of eight years will be exempt from these charges.
6 left parties to observe babri demolition anniv
New Delhi: Six Left parties will observe the 25th anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid in Ayodhya on December 6 as ‘Black Day’ all over the country. The CPI(M), CPI, RSP, AIFB, CPI(ML) and the SUCI(C) today gave a call to all their units in the country to protest against the “wilful demolition of the Babri Masjid”.
