A video grab of strollers at Ullal beach collecting fresh fish washed ashore on Wednesday morning | EXPRESS

MANGALURU: People taking a morning stroll on the shores of Ullal beach near here were in for a pleasant surprise on Wednesday. They found hundreds of sardine fish washed ashore and that too alive, which is a rare sight. The walkers initially thought that the fish might be dead but a closer look revealed that there were still alive.

Making the most of it, the surprised fish eaters wasted no time in grabbing any plastic and paper found lying around and collected as much fish as they could hold. Some even informed their friends who rushed to the beach for the free fish. Many found nothing strange with the fish found on the shore.

They said it happened when some fish lose their way from their group only to be washed off onto the shore by the strong tides. On the other hand, a few termed it as a warning of something bad to happen.
