Sir — This refers to the article, “The making of the Padmavati controversy” (November 21) by A Surya Prakash. Controversy over the film Padmavati is unfortunate and in some ways needless because the people who have been protesting against the film have not even seen the film. Do they have the right to protest against the film? Protests against the screening of the film are infringing upon film-maker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s right to freedom of speech, self expression and right to creativity. Moreover, while the Central Board of Film Certification has not yet cleared the film, a special screening was done for the media to get the film reviewed on national channels. This is inappropriate.
