If Madhuri had refused the film, I wouldn’t have made it: Tejas Deoskar

Tejas Deoskar, who is all set to direct Madhuri Dixit Nene's untitled debut Marathi film as an actor shared his excitement of working with the Bollywood diva. "I somewhere knew that Madhuri would like the script, but I wasn't sure whether she would agree to be a part. The story was written keeping her in mind. I feel fortunate that the story excited her and she chose to make her acting debut in Marathi with our film. In fact, if she hadn't said yes to the film, I wouldn't have made it," he said.

Without divulging much about the film, Tejas said, "When the news of Madhuri making a debut in Marathi industry broke, many people including top Marathi filmmakers were curious to know if it's a love story. Our film is inspired by a true incident. It is a slice of life and there are a lot of moments that will make audience laugh."

Talking about Madhuri's character in the film, he added, "Her character is of a simple, but strong headed Maharashtrian woman, based in Pune." All praises for the actress, he went on to add, "She is trying her best to get into the skin of the character. She has smiled, laughed and cried during every narration session. Madhuri is a wonderful actress. As she is playing a Puneri woman, she is trying to learn the typical Pune lingo; although her command over Marathi is really superb. Also, she is learning to ride a bike. We are concentrating on every small detail of her character along with the look and costumes."

The film's shooting is yet to start. "We will first shoot in Mumbai and then in Pune," added Tejas.
