BENGALURU: MBA graduate P Vinay Shankar runs ‘Kurativity’, which connects start-ups with venture capitalists. Along with other co-founders Nikhil Furtado, Pratibha Nayak and Andrea Fernandes, he opened for business this June. ‘Kurativity’ also advises entrepreneurs on to start out, what challenges to watch out for and scope of their business. Vinay worked in a consulting firm for six months as corporate relationship officer, and as CEO at a real estate company. Excerpts from an interview given to City Express:

Why Mysuru?
Mysuru has many education institutions and, when compared to Bengaluru, the cost of living is lower. You can hire fresh talent for companies at affordable packages.

What are the service/product being offered?
We first understand the business of our client and bring in investors to scale up the business. We do everything that is needed, right from identifying good teams and hunting for talent to sharing ideas and bringing in venture capitalists. Currently we are developing a platform to fund early-stage startups, and our services include funding, mentoring, research, developing infrastructure and consulting services.

Are there similar services/products in the market?
Not in Mysuru, currently.

What have been the challenges?
In initial days, we had trouble finding talented people with enough experience. The biggest challenge is to get your idea noticed and accepted, we got it done through many presentations made to industry experts and regular meet ups with start-up circles. A lot of research and networking is required to succeed in this space.

What is the revenue stream?
The main revenue comes from the start-ups which have started making profits. Other sources are consulting and research.

What is the next step?
In 2018, we are planning to work with four to five startups and we are signing on a few advisors and working with angel investors to understand how this industry works.

Advice to startup aspirants
Always do a thorough market survey, research and know the needs of market. Every founder should plan for lasting sales. If you have plans for startup contact info@kurativity.in
