State’s first women university will come at Sidhgora in the eastern part of Jamshedpur, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said on Monday in Jamshedpur.
“I am happy to announce that first Women’s University will come up at Sidhgora. It is really an ambitious project and will give a much needed boost to education. I along with East Singhbhum Deputy Commissioner, Amit Kumar and other senior administrative officials visited the spot at Bagunhatu in Sidhgora. I have asked the deputy commissioner to make a proposal for land transfer to the State government within 48 hours. The Government after consultation with concerned departments will submit the same to Union HRD ministry for setting up State’s first women university. A meeting with state HRD and Union Ministers is scheduled on December 18 at New Delhi,” said Das who reached here Monday evening.
As per information, around 18 acres of vacant government land exists in Bagunhatu area, close to Surya Mandir in Sidhgora which will be used to develop the university.
“Education will receive a major boost with coming up of the new university. As per the plans, the funds for the construction of the university will be given by Union HRD ministry. The proposal on land transfer would be submitted to the government as soon as possible. The women’s university, the only such in Jharkhand would come up on nearly 18 acres of land under Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) of HRD ministry,” informed East Singhbhum DC Amit Kumar.
He said that after opening of the university, the area can be developed as an educational hub. “Jamshedpur will emerge as education hub. There are also proposal for engineering institute and polytechnic in Sidhgora and land will be identified soon,” the deputy commissioner added.
The Chief Minister also announced the setting up of advance market complexes at the abandoned bus depot of erstwhile Bihar State Road Transport Corporation (BSRTC) in Agrico and the Baridih bus depot.
As per our plans, the administration will take steps to get the Agrico bus depot (nearly an acre) and Baridih bus depot (over one acre) free from encroachment so that state urban development can undertake construction of a modern market complex/mall on these structures,’ said chief minister.
The CM also ordered district administration to free nearly 10 acres of land at densely populated urban slum Chhyanagar (in Bhuiyandih) for proposed projects. People residing in Chhayanagar will be relocated in houses built by the district administration under PMAY urban scheme before removing encroachment.
