‘Padmavati’: Rani Mukerji comes out in support of Sanjay Leela Bhansali

With the furore on ‘Padmavati’ increasing day by day, many Bollywood celebs have come out in support of the film. The latest B-towner to join the list is actress Rani Mukerji.

Talking about the hot topic at a recent event, Rani emphasized that society needed to be more loving. "We need to be more loving as a society, as humanity... We need to go towards love. We have to disassociate with something which is unloving. I believe in love because I am a new mother," Rani said when asked if she believed that a director must have cinematic liberty.

Prodded to openly back Bhansali, the actress said that the filmmaker doesn't need Rani Mukerji to back him. She went on to say, "He knows that I back him, love him. He is my darling and he knows how I stand by him. I don't need a platform to express that."

Rani, who worked with Bhansali in ‘Black’, added that the film changed her "as a person and as a performer".

‘Padmavati’ now faces protest by Rajput Samaj in the UK
2/57‘Padmavati’ now faces protest by Rajput Samaj in the UK
After the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) in the UK cleared Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus, ‘Padmavati’ with no cuts, the Rajput Samaj launched a boycott against the release of the film there. The Samaj has also reportedly written to the British Board to revoke its certification for the film to prevent its release in Britain too.
According to the reports in PTI, the President of the Rajput Samaj of UK, Mahendrasinh Jadeja, was reportedly of the view that the film ‘Padmavati’ distorts their history, culture, and traditions and because it has been boycotted by so many states in India, the filmmakers are trying to use a clever approach of getting the film released in the UK.
Although the makers of the film have already reportedly stated that the film will release in the UK in line with the Indian release, Jadeja said that they cannot trust the makers anymore as they have broken many reassurances in the past.
The British Board is yet to comment on the Rajput Samaj’s boycott appeal.

3/57‘Padmavati’ row: Dead body found hanging at Jaipur’s Nahargarh fort with a chilling message
This is probably one of the ugliest turns that any protest against a film has ever taken. In a recent development on the ongoing ‘Padmavati’ row, a dead body was reportedly found at the gate of Nahargarh Fort in Jaipur with a terrifying note.
According to reports, locals reportedly informed the police about the body found near the main gate of the Nahargarh Fort, which is one of the tourist attractions of the Pink city. The police are yet to find out the exact cause of the death. The body has not been identified as well. A chilling note was also seen scribed on a rock near it which read, “Hum sirf putle nahi latkate – Padmavati” (We just don’t hang effigies)
Meanwhile, condemning the act, President of Karni Sena has reportedly said that although the protest against the film ‘Padmavati’ is justified, such acts are not justified. He also apparently added that they will never resort to such means of protest against the film and that it is not how their group functions.
