Jason Wolf explains how the Titans have failed to get a win in Indianapolis in more than a decade. Autumn Allison/USA TODAY NETWORK-Tennessee

Who has the edge between the Titans (6-4) and Colts (3-7) on Sunday (noon CT, Fox) at Lucas Oil Stadium?

Offense - Titans

Quarterback Marcus Mariota still was limited by a hamstring injury when he returned to lead the Titans to a victory against the Colts earlier this season. He’s healthy this time around and will be motivated to get the Titans back on the winning track after throwing a career-high four interceptions in his last outing against the Steelers. Colts quarterback Jacoby Brissett, playing in place of the injured Andrew Luck, leads one of the more feeble offenses in the NFL.

Defense - Titans

The Colts are allowing an average of 28 points per game, the most in the league. They're ranked 30th in pass defense and total defense. The Titans rate among the strongest teams in the NFL against the rush and should be able to limit plodding veteran running back Frank Gore, rendering the Colts’ offense one-dimensional.

Special teams - Colts

Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri ranks among the most accurate in the league, having hit 18 of 19 field-goal attempts. The Titans have missed a field goal in each of the past two weeks. Ryan Succop missed against the Bengals to end his NFL record streak of 56 consecutive field goals from inside 50 yards. The Titans had another field-goal attempt blocked against the Steelers. Titans punter Brett Kern leads the NFL in average and net punting yards. Tennessee’s kickoff coverage unit is giving up the second-most yards in the league.

Coaching - Colts

Chuck Pagano owns a 10-1 record against the Titans and was undefeated until Tennessee’s victory earlier this season on “Monday Night Football.” He is 2-4 against teams coached by Mike Mularkey. Pagano guided the Colts to a 49-31 regular-season record in his first five seasons in Indianapolis, including three 11-win campaigns.

Intangibles - Titans

The Colts are coming off a bye week and have won nine consecutive games against the Titans in Indianapolis. The Titans’ last victory in Indy came in 2007 at the RCA Dome. They never have won at Lucas Oil Stadium. But the Titans remain in the playoff picture, unlike the Colts, and did manage to snap an 11-game losing streak to their AFC South rival earlier this season in Nashville. The Titans are angry after losing a mistake-filled, nationally televised game to the Steelers, 40-17, on “Thursday Night Football.” This is a critical juncture in their season.

Predictions

Jason Wolf

Titans 28, Colts 24: Mariota finds great success against the Colts’ 30th-ranked pass defense, leading the Titans to their first victory in Indianapolis in a decade and keeping them within striking distance of the AFC South title.

Joe Rexrode

Titans 27, Colts 17: It's time for the Titans to stop messing around and win a game they should win in convincing nature. Here's a perfect opportunity. The defense will get after Brissett, and the offense will find ample room to make plays against that Colts defense.
