PATNA: Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar on Thursday inspected the ongoing work in the annexe building of state legislature and directed the officials concerned to complete the remaining work in right earnest so that the new building becomes fully functional soon.
The CM asked the officials concerned to provide electricity connection on the first and second floors of the building besides shifting the assembly canteen from the old legislature building to the new one.
State Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary and MLC Chandeshwar Prasad Chandravanshi also accompanied the CM during inspection. Development commissioner Shishir Sinha, principal secretary to CM Chanchal Kumar and labour resources department principal secretary Dipak Kumar Singh were also present.
The salient features of the new building are central hall-cum-library, chambers for various committees and the elevated pathway that links the old legislature building with the new one. During the inspection, the CM asked the officials to ensure beautification of the central hall, maintenance of cleanliness and placement of flower pots at suitable points to give a green look and to the building. The CM said there should be uniformity in the furniture provided in the chambers. "The existing chairs should be replaced with uniform ones," he said.
The CM said the elevated pathway should be widened to facilitate comfortable and unencumbered movement of people between the two legislature buildings.
