Police nab wanted Maoist

NUAPADA : Police arrested wanted Maoist Sachindra Majhi alias Sachin of Kuimunda village in Boden on Tuesday. Sachin was the president of Chasi Mulia Adivasi Sangh, a frontal wing of CPI (Maoist). He was also an active militia of the Maoists in Patdhara Reserve Forest area of the district.

Nuapada SP Smit P Parmar said Sachin was wanted by Boden police for his involvement in the killing of a civilian Gajapati Majhi on April 18 last year. His role as a militia included arranging meetings in Patdhara area, logistics, providing information on movement of security forces besides extortion from contractors engaged in development work.  Sachin’s involvement in other cases is being verified and further investigation is on, police said.
