Mining scam: Digamber Kamat’s son grilled by SIT

PANAJI: Former Goa chief minister Digamber Kamat's son Yogiraj on Wednesday appeared before the special investigation team (SIT) probing Goa's mining scam. Yogiraj's questioning went on for close to three hours by PI Uday Naik, sources said.


The former chief minister was summoned to appear before the SIT for questioning on Tuesday, but he could not make it claiming medical grounds.


He is now scheduled to appear before the SIT on Friday. Kamat's wife's brother Satish Lawande has been summoned before the SIT on Thursday.


Sources said that the possible involvement of Kamat's family members, if any, in the mining case is being investigated. Similarly, politico Praful Hede has been summoned by the SIT on Tuesday. Sources said that illegalities involving Hede's mine is being probed.
