The first bike developed between TVS Motors and BMW Motorrad, the Apache RR 310 or Akula is all set to be launched in India on December 6, 2017.
TVS showcased the concept model (Akula) at the 2016 Auto Expo in Delhi and ever since then, it has created a considerable excitement over the imminent launch. Now that the launch date is confirmed, stay tuned to DriveSpark as we bring you complete coverage of the Apache RR 310 launch in the country.
While the motorcycle was introduced to us with the Akula moniker, TVS has confirmed theactual name of the bike. The new bike will be called as the TVS Apache RR 310. The brand value of Apache is massive in the Indian market and could be the reason behind namingthe Apache RR 310.
While the Apache RR 310 will compete with the KTM 250/390 and the KTM RC 390, in terms of pricing the bike is expected to rival the Bajaj Dominar. As for the specifications of the TVS Apache, RR 310 will employ the BMW G 310R's 313cc single-cylinder unit.
The 313cc engine produces 34bhp at 9,500 rpm, and 28Nm of torque at 7,500rpm and comes married to a 6-speed gearbox. BMW has placed the engine backwards in the chassis with the air intake on the front and the exhaust port facing the back of the motorcycle.
TVS is manufacturing both the BMW Motorrad bikes and the Apache RR 310 at its Hosur plant on a new assembly line especially for the BMW bikes to meet BMW quality standard.
While TVS will sell the Apache RR 310 through its extensive network of sales outlets in the country, BMW Motorrad will sell their bikes through its own growing dealer network and will handle the sales and service as well.
