NEW DELHI: Most of the oil & gas stocks in the BSE Oil & Gas index were trading down in morning trade on Wednesday.

Shares of Indraprastha Gas (down 3.19 per cent), Bharat Petroleum Corporation (down 1.13 per cent), Hindustan Petroleum Corporation (down 1.02 per cent), Reliance Industries (down 0.61 per cent), Indian Oil Corporation (down 0.49 per cent), Petronet LNG (down 0.36 per cent), Castrol India (down 0.09 per cent) and GAIL (India) (down 0.05 per cent) were trading in the negative zone.

The S&P BSE Oil & Gas index was trading 0.47 per cent down at 15,872 around 10:30 am (IST).

Only shares of Oil India (up 1 per cent) and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (up 0.19 per cent) were trading up around that time.

Benchmark BSE Sensex was 40 points up at 33,519, while the NSE Nifty50 index was trading flat at 10,326.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty50 index, 17 were trading in the green, while 33 were in the red.

Adani Ports, HDFC, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services and Bajaj Auto were trading as the gainers in the Sensex index.

On the other hand, Dr Reddy's, Bharti Airtel, Sun Pharma, Axis Bank, State Bank of India and Hindustan Unilever were among the losers in the Sensex index.
