The Ramana Community Health Center in Garhwa district built at the cost of crores of rupees is facing severe shortage of medical staff leading to serious lack of medical care at the centre.
The magnificent building of the hospital is being run with only a physician and two ANMs. Due to lack of female doctors in hospital, women have to be treated by male doctors. Single doctor Arun Kumar posted in this health center is managing OPD and emergency service alone since September. Due to both the units being seen by the same doctor, hospital management is facing several problems.
Notably, there are many posts sanctioned in the community health center, including four doctors, two female doctors, four trained senior ANMs, including pharmacists, dressers, technicians, X-ray operators.
“As winter comes, there has been an increase in viral fever, cold, and malaria-related patients. The number of patients in the OPD is reaching more than 100. Due to lack of doctors, people are having trouble,” said Kumar.
Civil Surgeon, Garhwa, Dr. T. Hembrum said that all efforts are being made to provide better facilities to the patients in the existing resources.
Efforts are being made by the department to increase the number of doctor and also resources.
