Sam Feldt talks electronic music, fans and musical surprise Special

This past weekend, Feldt performed at the PlayStation Theater in New York City. "It was amazing, and my biggest show in New York City to date. I brought along the live band, sax and trumpet, and played a lot of tunes of the new album Sunrise to Sunset," he said. Feldt is drawn to electronic music due to its "ability to connect people from all walks of life." "When you're on the dance-floor, it doesn't matter where you're from, if you're rich or poor. We're all the same and we are all connected," he said. On his plans for the future, Feldt said, "After releasing my debut album Sunrise, I have a very big and special musical surprise coming for you at the end of this week. I can't say much yet, but after every sunrise comes a sunset, right?" Regarding the future of electronic music in the next five years, he predicted, "Over the past two years we've seen a lot of electronic artists that started to produce radio-friendly tracks, because they felt it was needed to stay relevant. I think this has over-saturated the market, and there's a void to be filled when it comes to club or festival bangers. I think producers in the next five years will go back to their roots and original sound." For aspiring DJs and producers, Feldt's advice is as follows: "Find your own sound and stick to it. Don't try to copy someone else or create a track that will do well in the charts: create what you like. If you like it, others are going to like it too." Digital transformation of electronic music On the digital transformation of electronic music, he said, "Technology has changed the music industry in so many ways. A good example is social media. It's so important right now to be active on all these different platforms and musicians are becoming influencers as well. Through my company Fangage.me, we help artists manage this fan relationship." Regarding Feldt's use of technology in his daily routine as a musician, he said, "I use technology all day, every day. I'm very connected. If you send me a tweet - I'll usually reply within a few minutes. When it comes to making music, technology is invaluable. All of my tracks are made on a computer and in a sense the modern day turntables are computers as well." He shared that he has been to the Greek island of Mykonos, Greece, for a show. "The food is amazing, and overall, it's a beautiful country," he said. For his dedicated electronic fans, he said, "Thanks for all the support so far.
