Vieira, 19, made just three substitute appearances in the opening 12 games of the Championship campaign  but has played every minute since being restored to the starting XI in the 3-0 win at Bristol City last month.

Christiansen’s future came under question as a result of Leeds’ losing streak but Sunday’s has lifted some of the pressure.

Despite being forced to win over Christiansen, Vieira insists he enjoys working with the head coach.

“Obviously I wasn’t playing at the start but I don’t blame him for that,” he said.

“It’s just what he thinks is best for the team.

“When you’re not playing it’s like your confidence is lost a little bit but when you get into the team, start playing and getting good performances in, the confidence of playing boosts you.
