SURAT: A man and his two sons were booked for allegedly cheating a diamond trader of Rs 76.84 lakh.
The accused Savji Ghoghari and his sons Alpesh and Pradeep purchased 798 carats of rough diamonds from the trader Jignesh Miyani, a resident of LH Road in Varachha, in March but did not make the payment despite repeated reminders.
According to the complaint lodged by Miyani with Mahidharpura police station on Tuesday, the trio even brandished a gun at him when he went to ask for payment.
The accused initially developed good business relations with Miyani and made payments regularly on time to win his trust.
Miyani made several reminders but when he did not get any satisfactory response, he went to meet them at their office in Mahidharpura. However, Alpesh abused him while Pradeep kept a gun on his table and threatened him. The threatened Miyani that they would kill him if he came again to demand the diamonds or the payment.
Later, they kept giving him false promises of making payment. When Miyani realized that they had no intention to pay, he approached the police.
