Good job he's not a woman: Hammond wears same outfit for Budget announcement as last year
CHANCELLOR Philip Hammond appeared to be sporting the exact same suit and tie he wore to announce last year's Budget as he stood outside the Treasury ahead of this year's speech.
The Chancellor emerged from the Treasury this morning in what appears to be the same outfit he wore last year for the Autumn Statement announcement - a dark blue suit with a light blue tie.
Some acerbic social media commentators pointed out that if he was a woman he would be ridiculed - on social media!
However, after his Universal Credit u-turn in March following a major public backlash, it appears unlikely that this is a lucky outfit.
The Chancellor told MPs he has set aside £3billion to ensure Britain is prepared for all possible outcomes of Brexit talks as he delivered his landmark speech today.
First-time buyers are celebrating the news that he is planning to lower stamp duty in order to help them get on the first rung of the housing ladder.

The Chancellor said he plans to increase duty on high-strength, low-quality alcohol from 2019 but he is freezing duties on other ciders, wines, spirits and beer.
But smokers are disappointed to learn that tobacco duty is set to continue to rise 2 per cent more than inflation.
Car drivers are also unhappy about the fact that the Chancellor is increasing tax for diesel cars.
Mr Hammond said: “From April 2018 the first year VED rate for diesel cars that don’t meet the latest standards, will go up by one band.”

The Chancellor is making it possible for driverless cars to hit the road by 2021 as well as investing £100million to help people use electric cars.
He added: “We’ll establish a new £400m charging infrastructure fund, invest an extra £100m in Plug-In-Car Grant, and £40m in charging R&D."
Mr Hammond is spending more on health. He is investing an extra £10billion over the course of this Parliament to support the NHS Sustainability and Transformation plans.
He also confirmed new discount railcards will be introduced for those aged 26 to 30. It will work in a similar way to the young person’s railcard.
