(MENAFN) Due to a T-38 Talon crash that occurred on Monday in Texas, a U.S. Air Force pilot has died while another has been hospitalized.

According to a statement issued by the Air Force, the pilots crashed the training jet in close proximity to Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, almost 14 miles northwest at about 4PM.

47th Flying Training Wing vice Commander Col. Michelle Pryor stated Monday night "our biggest priority at this time is caring for the family and friends of our Airmen."

Col. Pryor continued "we are a close knit family, and when a tragedy like this occurs every member of the U.S. Armed Forces feels it. Our people take top priority, and we are committed to ensuring their safety and security."
