GUNTUR: A waiting room for attendants of patients at the Guntur GGH has remained a non-starter. Even though Guntur MP Galla Jayadev promised to allocate `1 crore from MPLADS fund and `1 crore from Rajanna Trust being run by his family for setting up the waiting room and for providing other amenities at the GGH, the project has not taken a concrete shape even after two years as the authorities concerned failed to allot land to the GGH.

The GGH authorities told TDP MP Galla Jayadev that they are ready to provide the space adjacent to GGH. This site is under the control of Director of Health (DoH) and it has to be transferred to Director of Medical Education (DME). GGH superintendent Dr DS Raju Naidu said the waiting hall is the need of the hour for attendants of patients, who visit the GGH from various parts of the State. He said a proposal has been submitted to DME for allotting the TB Hospital site and shifting the same to Fever Hospital premises on Amaravati Road in Guntur.

Project yet to take off
