Girls’ parents seek action against man for recording obscene videos

Tirupur: A group of parents of girl students staged a protest in front of Poolavapatti government high school on Tuesday seeking action against a man who allegedly recorded videos of the girls while they were using a toilet on the school premises. The school, which has about 600 students including 300 girls, was expanded after being brought under the Tirupur Corporation. For this, poramboke lands near the school were acquired.

A public toilet, constructed by Neriperuchal panchayat, was already functioning near the land. The girls' toilet was later built near the public toilet.

Police said a man was illegally maintaining the public toilet and was collecting money from the users. "Some girls found out that he was recording video while they were using the school toilet. When the girls questioned him about it, he had allegedly threatened them with knife," said S Arul, member of DYFI. District chief education officer S Shakthi, police as well as corporation officials reached the spot and promised the parents to take quick action.

"The police will take appropriate action. We have suggested razing down the students' toilet because there is another facility on the other side of the compound," said a corporation official. After inquiry, police found the place where the man was staying. But when they reached there, he was not there.
