VADODARA: MS University is making efforts to invite President Ram Nath Kovind for its forthcoming annual convocation ceremony.
Sources said that chancellor Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad herself is making efforts to invite India's 14th President at the convocation ceremony.
If Kovind gives his consent, it will be for the first time in the history of MSU that a President will be chief guest at the biggest academic ceremony of the university.
MSU officials are however tight-lipped about the developments. Sources said that the convocation is likely to be held in the first week of January.
Earlier the university was considering spiritual preacher Morari Bapu but later decided to invite either a person with strong administrative experience.
It is worth mentioning here that the annual convocation this year has got delayed. Although, it was last year that the university's syndicate body had resolved that the university will hold its annual convocation on September 5 every year to mark Teacher's Day, vice-chancellor (VC) professor Parimal Vyas had clarified that the university will be able to host its convocation only in December.
With the model code of conduct in place due to the upcoming assembly polls, the university is treading cautiously on the personalities that it can invite for the convocation.
