The police and army launched a joint operation following information about the terrorists hiding in Zirhama area of Kupwara district.
This is the second encounter in Kupwara today. Earlier in the morning, three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists were killed in Magam area of the same district.
The development comes just three days after six terrorists, including the nephew of Mumbai attack mastermind Zaki-ur Rehman Lakhvi, were gunned down in north Kashmir's Bandipora. An Air Force commando, however, lost his life in the operation.
