Anjuman AITM's 'STEM fest 2017' inaugurated in Bhatkal
Bhatkal: The Anjuman Institute of Technology and Management with the aim of developing the scientific attitude in students, had organized a one-day district-level science exhibition and quiz 'STEM expo 2017' for PU science students at its campus in Bhatkal on 11th November, Saturday.
Mr. Mohsin Shahbandri, chief guest of the event, addressing the students, said, we see the world today which has come up with various new innovations, which has changed the lifestyle. The Internet has played a prominent role in this by helping in commercial activities. The current syllabus in the educational institutes is too far from what is happening today in the world. So we need to request the government to make modification in the syllabus. Your dream should be your goals and work hard to achieve it, he added.
More than 200 students from various educational institutions took part in this STEM expo fest, which was divided into two categories i.e 'Model Expo' and 'Quizzomania'.
The models were based on different concepts in physics, chemistry, biology, and mathematics and also regarding conventional and non-conventional energy sources.
Among the highlights include models on converting mechanical and wind energy to electrical energy, lie detector, solid waste management, wireless power transmission using Tesla coils, wireless energy transfer, solar cycle for generating power, hydraulic excavator, geothermal power plant, self-balancing scooter, robotics, hydraulics in, CNC machine etc.
Student coordinator, Usama Ajaib said that the only intention behind organizing this event was to identify the hidden talents among the students and motivate them to inculcate interest in science and research activities. He also added saying that such events were necessary to motivate students to come up with ideas that might be helpful in the society.
At the inaugural ceremony, president of Anjuman Hami-e-Muslimeen Jukaku Abdur Raheem, vice-president Abdur Rahman Batin, general secretary Ismail Siddiqui, additional secretary Ishaque Shahbandri, college board secretary Abubakar Kasimji, Vice principal Phalachandra were present on the dais.
