Addressing a gathering of people via video conferencing in Bharuch district of poll-bound Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday asked them to unite against casteism, terrorism, black money, corruption and communalism.
“It is a strange environment…We must hold each others hand and move ahead….I am confident that if 125 crore Indians join in and everyone moves ahead with a pledge to free society of all these ailments, I don’t think anyone can stop from India moving ahead,” Prime Minister said. “After having borne the responsibility for last three-and-a-half years, I can say that the country has a great potential.”
The PM was speaking to followers of Rang Avadhoot Maharaj, a saint poet from Gujarat on the 50th Nirvan anniversary of Rang Avdhoot Maharaj credited for expansion of Datta-panth in Gujarat.
This is the second such religious function being addressed by Prime Minister in November in poll-bound homestate. In early November, the Prime Minister had personally come down to Gandhinagar and attend silver jubilee of Akshardham temple of Swaminarayan sect.
During his one-hour speech, the Prime Minister in his inimitable style avoided speaking anything overtly political. He narrated his personal experiences of visiting the areas of Central Gujarat.
The Prime Minister also reminded his audience of meeting between the saint and founder of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh Guru Golwalkar.
“I have grown up in Sangh parivar and I have narrated the incident of meeting between sarsanghchalak, revered Guruji, and Rang Avadhoot ji…I also ensured that a picture of Rang Avadhoot ji maharaj hugging Golwelkar ji gets prominence at the bridge in my former constituency Maninagar,” he added.
