Reacting to the Congress criticism of the State Government’s alleged mismanagement of the State’s economy, Cabinet Minister Yashpal Arya said that the charges were frivolous and unfounded. “If the Congress means the borrowings the State Government has taken recourse to it is quite justified in the interest of the State’s development. Besides, borrowing from other sources to take on the State’s requirement is a normal practice. All the previous State Governments since the inception of the state have taken recourse to it. There is thus nothing amiss in it. At the same time, I would like to mention that the state government is exploring several other options to bolster the state’s volume of income,” he said while talking to the media persons at Dam Kothi in Haridwar on Tuesday.
The State Transport Minister further said that the State transport department hopes to earn more revenue this year, surpassing the last year’s figure of `660 crores. “We are determined to revamp the infrastructure of the State and to provide better the facilities to the people,” he said.
Queried over the preparations for Mahakumbh 2021, the Minister said that conduct of a smooth fair is a priority of the State Government. “We would make sure that the pilgrims do not face difficulty on any front be it drinking water, road or other facilities.
The bus stand would be shifted keeping everyone’s sentiments into consideration. The traders would be taken on board too before the State administration takes a call on the matter. They must not feel that the shifting would make them incur losses,” the Minister said.
