A new Pokemon Go event was launched earlier this week, and it’s already providing some top rewards.

The Pokemon Go Travel: Global Catch Challenge requires players to catch over 500 Million Pokemon in less than a week to unlock rewards.

And fans have already reached the first tier, giving everyone new global boosts.

This includes Double XP, 6 hours long Lure Modules and a lot more Pokemon appearing worldwide.

These are active now, but aren’t the only Pokemon Go event rewards available to claim.

There’s also a second tier of bonuses, which will go live when players reach 1.5 Billion catches.

It took around a day and a half for Trainers to reach 500 million catches, so perhaps Thanksgiving will be when the next milestone is reached.

If this does come to pass, Trainers can also look forward to a new Pokemon Go event reward going live, that’s sure to prove popular.

Catching 1.5 Billion Pokemon will  unlock double Stardust, on top of the existing bonuses.

Niantic also say that they will crank up the amount of available Pokemon in the wild too.

3 Billion Pocket Monster catches unlocks Gold rewards, which include all of the above, as well as FarFetch’d being released worldwide for 48 hours, alongside Kangaskhan becoming available in East Asia for 48 hours.

Trainers have until November 26 to catch all the required Pokemon and collect the full rewards on offer.

As already mentioned by Niantic, most of these rewards will stay active until December 1, with a few exceptions.

“Rewards are unlocked shortly after each milestone is reached,” a message from Niantic explains.

“After catching 3 billion Pokemon, FarFetch’d will start to appear globally while Kangaskhan will appear in East Asia for 48 hours.

“Other rewards will last until 12/1 at 1.00pm. PST. Good luck on your Pokemon Go Travel adventures.”

This new Pokemon Go event has now started and and concludes with a special celebration at the Pokemon GO Safari Zone event in Tottori, Japan, on November 26.

It’s a direct replacement for the Thanksgiving event celebration run last year by Niantic, with the company not wanting to run two concurrent events for the game.

Trainers will be kept up-to-date by the likes of IHasCupquake, Coisa de Nerd, and Rachel Quirico, who will be reporting from the Pokemon Go Safari Zone event, in Japan.

There’s also hope that a new Legendary Pokemon might be released on November 26, as part of the event in Japan.

Oh-Ho is a top candidate for release, although Niantic have not revealed if anything has been scheduled for the last day of the Safari Zone.
